PRIMITIVE METHODIST CHURCH, GERALDINE.
An entertainment by the children of the Sunday School, under the able management of Miss Eskett, was given in this church on Thursday evening. There was, as is usual at these entertainments, a very good attendance. The chair was occupied by the JRev. G. Clement, pastor of the / church. The meeting was opened with devotional exercises. The children then sang in' chorus “ Speaking for Jesus.” Recitation, George Stonehouse, Only a 80y.”,, Duet, “/Open r the Beautiful Gates,” Edna Sherratt and Willie M aslin. i A chorus by the chileren, “ Oh, we are Volunteers,” with banner display, took immensely, and was loudly applauded. Eecitation, “Felo’s Letter,” Fanny Jones. A solo, “ I’ll Go,” by Annie Bowkett, was followed by the children with the chorus, “ Voices, Happy Voices,” which was another capital item. Recitation, “ The Schemer,” George Sherratt. Solo, “ The Hours,!’ Emily Maslin. Chorus by children, “ Marching On.” Beading. “ Little Pilgrim,” Fanny Every. Duet, “ Jesus, Take my Hand,” Maggie and Willie Morrison. Chorus by tne children, “ I Cannot seek too Early.” This concluded the first part of the programme, and during the interval an abundant coffee supper was dispensed by the ladies. The second part of the programme was commenced by the children .singing “ Ihe Children’s Day; ’’ recitation, “ Three Little RoHns,” Mary Billens; duet, “ Sometime I’ll Shine,” Maggie and Willie Morrison; chorus, with flags, “ Hosanna in the Highest ”; recitation, “The Reason,” Fred. Wallack; solo, “ What are you going to do, Brother,” Fanny Gibsen; trio, “ Faith, Hope and Charity,” Maggie Morrison, Annie Bowkett and Fanny Gibson; solo, “ Only Waiting,” Maggie Morrison; duet, “ Waiting to Welcome us There,” Edna Sherratt and W. Morrison ; chorus, “ Words of Jesus ; recitation, “ Po®r Willie Avis,” Fanny Every. The programme was concluded by the children singing “ March Steadily Onward,” the children waving their flags to the time. Miss Eskett and Miss Andrews accompanied the singers on the harmonium. The performance of the children throughout the evening, was excellent, and Miss Eskett well deserved the hearty vote of thanks which was accorded to her for the time she had spent, and the trouble she had taken, in. bringing them to such a state of perfection* The result proved conclusively her great capability for instructing young children. Votes of thanks were also accorded to all those who by their assistance had helped those present-to spend such an enjoyable evening. The , singing of the Doxology terminated the meeting.
