At the wool auction there was keen competition, but prices were unchanged. The sales closed on the 14th. The number of bales carried forward is 100,000, and it is estimated that the number available for the September series, including old stocks, is 250,000.
Pine Auckland hemp is quoted at £22 10s, fair to medium Wellington, £l9. New Zealand heavy oats are quoted at 28s 6d ; ordinary, 225. Wool is unchanged. New Zealand mutton, 6^d; beef, hind quarters, 3£d, fore quarters, 2d. The Premier Consolidated Gold Mining Company of New Zealand has been registered, with a capital of £70,000. , , Bank of New Zealand shares, new issue, £8 15s, old £0 10a. July 18.
Sugar, German beet, 12s 9d; Java, 14a 9d, New Zealand hemp, good medium quality, £l9 15s to £2l. Tallow, mutton, medium, 255; beef, 24s 6d. Australian wheat, ex warehouse, 37s to 37s 6d. New Zealand long berried, ex warehouse, 37s to 37s 6d. The tone of the wheat market is strong, with an upward tendency. Ihe English wheat market is lifeless; the Continental has an upward tendency : and the American is firm. July 21. Wheat, off coast, is quoted at 87s 6d to 88s, Wool quotations are unchanged,
