GERALDINE RACING CLUB.
The annual general meeting of the members of this club was held in the Crown Hotel, Geraldine, on IVLonday ; evening last, Mr E. H. Pparpoint, president, hieing in the chair. ' MINUTES. The minutes of the previous annual meeting were Bigned as being correctly entered. ; BALANCE SHEET. 'The balance sheet, duly audited, was- read and laid upon the table. It showed that the club had paid away in Btakes at the two meetings the sum of £BlQj ; ... The totalisator showed an improvement of ■ about £2O. The spring meeting had resulted in a loss of about £35, owing to wer. weather, while the autumn meeting, although the weather was again wet, showed a Bmall profit, The balance sheet was adopted. The chairman stated that since the last annual meeting an Act of Parliament had been passed, which enabled £he club to let the course for a longer Tenders bad tfeen called for easing it for 21 years, and Mr JEJreadley had been the successful tenderer, at-a very satisfactory rental. Mention was made of the shabby actionvof the South Canterbury Jockey Club in holding their meeting the day before the Geraldine meeting, when for years past the Geraldine day had been a fixture. Several of those present spoke on this matter, and the action of. the South Canterbury club was very much condemned, —It was decided to recommend the incoming Gomniittee to hold a spring meeting in September as usual. NEW MEMBERS. Messrs A. E. G. Kbodea, M.H.R., Burke, and T. Eooney were elepted Members of the club. X BEXIBING COMMITTEEMEN. Messrs B. E. Macdonald, T. Markham, E. Taylor, and R. H. A. JE. Hawkins was appointed auditor* and the annual meeting terminated. COMMITTEE MEETING. At a meeting of the committee held afterwards Messrs B. H, Pearpoint, J. ■ Mundell, and F. Wilson Smith were re-elected to the positions of chairman, treasurer, and secretary respectively. Messrs Pearpoint, Farrell, .Cox, and F. Wilson Smith were aDpoirited a sub-committee to draw up a progra'jame for the spiing meetiDg. /'he meeting then terminated.
