LABOR DISPUTES.
London, May 1. A compromise has been effected between the directors of the Great Southern and Western Railway Company, 0 f Ireland, and the men who are out on strike. Mr J. Munro, Commissioner of Police, bos gireu orders for (he trades pro-
cession's to be restricted to certain thoroughfaree in the metropolis, which greatly angered the processionists.
May 2. The parade in Hyde Park was a fiasco. It is computed that riot' more than 1500 were preßent, mainly socialists. Violent speeches were delivered in Hyde Park and also at Ulerkenwell.
Madrid, May 2. Strikes are spreading throughout Spain. Owing to riots at Barcelona martial Uw has been proclaimed there.
The eight hour system is being conceded'% numbers of masters throughout Spain.
May 3. After the procession yesterday delegates from the workmen presented a petition to the Cortes, praying that the length of a day's work should be fixed at eight hours.
Paris, May 2. Labor riots broke out at Roubaix, a chief seat ;>f the French woollen manufactures, and troops had to be called out to disperse the mob.
Forty thousand employes of the woollen factories in Roubaix are out on strike.
Several delegates presented petitioos to the Chamber of Deputies with reference to the eight hours movement, and M. Floqaet, thb President, promised that the request of the deputation should recpive every consideration at the hands of the Chamber,
Hamburg, May 2. It will probably be enacted that nine thousand Government employes, who ware absent without leave on the Ist May, be dismissed.
Berlin, May 2. The holiday here was observed by 130,000 workmen, Vienna, May 2.
Yesterday the Government conceded the employes a half-holiday to enable thorn to take part in the labor celebrations. Private employers gave (he whole day. Not a single arre6t for disorderly conduct is reported. Seventy meetings were held in this city yesterday, at all of which resolutions were unanimously adopted, favoring eight hours as the length of a day's fTOfk,
In consequence of the disturbances it took the Turcoman dragoons to disperse the mob.
Fitty thousand paraded the streets yesterday advocating eight hoars. There was no disturbance and in the evening the crowds quietly dispersed.
Buda Pesth, May 2. Yesterday was observed as a holiday by the workmen in the city, »nd there was some rioting during the demonstration. The military, who were in readiness in case of need, charged the crowd, and dispersed them. ]Skw Yoek, May 1. The difficulty which caused the strike of carpenters in Ohioago has now been settled, and the men will resume work on Monday, May 2. The eight hour agaitation is spreading throughout the States.
