It is expected that a procession of 200,000 workmen will march through the streets on the occasion of the labor demonstration. Christchurch, April lb. A very large meeting in Tuam Street Hall, to-night, utnder the presidency of the mayor, passed resolutions affirming that night shopping is an unnecessary custom, which produces innumerable evils, to the detriment of employes in retail shops, expressing sympathy with the Early Closing Association in their endeavors to close shops at 6 o’clock, declaring that an Act should be passed to close shops at 6 o’clock, and compel employers to give employes a weekly half-bo iday, the Rev. T, Plavell, the R-v, C. 0. Bradbury, and Messrs L. M, Isitt, W. P, Reeves, W,B. Percival,jjan J R. M. Taylor, members of the House of Rep resentatives, addressed the meeting.
