Fielding March 20, Yesterday while a coach containing o driver and was on its way to Birmingham, the brake gave way, and in endeavouring to keep the horses in a cutting the pole broke and the whole concern went oyer an embankment. The driver and two passengers were severely bruised, and the third named Fortune Gilmer, aged 72, was found underneath one of the houses. Ha was conveyed to a hotel close by, but died shortly afterwards from internal injuries and severe shock to the system. , Invercargill, March 19. Charles Freeman, 71, a settler of 27 years in this district, hung himself to-day. He was a remarkably wealthy and robust man. The cause seems to have been the contraction of his income.
