At the Auckland Police Court on Friday, a young man named Arthur Hobbs f was fined £5 for bringing a bottle of whiskey on board H.M.S. Opal without the previous consent of the officer commanding. Considerable alarm was caused in Onehunga on Thursday when a bull, which was being driven through the town, suddenly became enraged, and charged a number of people, two of whom were seriously injured. The animal was recaptured and shot. A fire occurred at Oamaru on Friday by which a five roomed house was totally destroyed, and two other cottages were considerably damaged. The cottage destroyed was insured for £225, and the furniture for £l5O, One of the damaged cottages was insured for £l5O, and the furniture for £75.
