TIMARU MARKETS. George Priest reports for week ending Bth March, 1890 "Wheat has heen offering freely during the week with few buyers, who are not eager to purchase, so that it is difficult to effect sales. I have placed during the week, red cbaff2ssidto 2s 7d, Essex white 2s 6d to 2s 7d tuscan 2s 8d to 2s 9d, the latter prices being for prime samples. Oats are a drug, and all kinds, with the exception of Canadians, are almost unsaleable. These I quote, if prime Is 3d to Is 3|d. F ’ Barley is one of those cereals which varies so much in quality, therefore it is hard to get at its true market value, I have placed several lines at from 2s 6d to 2s 8d for malting. Feed barley, no demand. Grass Seed—l have enquiries for, and for good, clean well-dressed from old pasture, I quote 3s to 3s to 3s 3d. Potatoes—Derwents I quote £2 kidneys £2 10s. ' Onions -Jd per lb in quantities.
