ALLEGED CAPTURE OF JONATHAN ROBERTS.

Dunedin, Feb. 28. Jonathan Roberts has been captured on the Sydney side. Wellington, Feb, 28.

Though the authorities haye received no advice of Jonathan Roberts' arrest, they have been aware for some time of hia presence in New South Wales, and measures were taken to secure his arrest.

It is understood (says the Otago Daily Tiroes) Captain Hume has received information that Jonathan Roberts, the prisoner who succeeded in making a daring escape from Ripa Island, Lyltelton Harbor, nearly two years ago, has baen arrested in New South Wales. The escaped convict is be"vieved to have made bis way to Rio de Janeiro, but decided on returning to Australia when yellow fever broke out. His presence in Australia ia believed to" have become known to the authorities through a letter written to a friend in Wellington.
