ST. PATRICK’S DAY SPORTS COMMITTEE, GERALDINE.
The adjourned anaual meeting of the above committee, and of all those interested in continuing the sports meeting at Geraldine was held in the Crown Hotel on Friday evening last. ■ There was a fair attendance. Mr R- H. Pearpoint occupied the chair. The annual report and balance-sheet were adopted as read. A vote of thanks was accorded to Messrs Clancy and Coles for work done gratuitously to the sports ground on the occasion of the last sports meeting. The suggestion was made by the chairman that for the more effectual carrying oh of the committee’s work, it would be advisable to form an association, with a fee for membership. f i be suggestion was considered at some length, and the advantages, or otherwise, fully discussed. Finally it was resolved—“ That this meeting form itself into an association (with a membership of 10s), to be called ‘ The Geraldine St. Patrick’s Day Sports Association,’ the said association taking over the assets and liabilities of the Geraldine Public Sports Committee. Most of those present were then enrolled as members of the newlyformed association, and its first meeting was held. Mr R. H. Pearpoint was voted to the chair. It was decided that the executive should consist of a president, vicepresident, treasurer, secretary, and a committee of seven, together with the officers ex officio , The following were elected as officers President, Mr R. H. Pearpoint; vice-president, Mr J. Cunningoam; hon. treasurer, Mr A. White ■ secretary, Mr A. Fisher ; committee,’ o N ‘ DunI °P. J- Turner, F. Wilson Smith, J. \Y. P ye , J. Farrell, •-“■-Jiie, and B. R. Macdonald. Considerable discussion took place as to the privileges that should attach to membership- Some of the younger members present considered that the 10s should give them the privilege of taking a young lady to the sports, as well as allowing the married members to take their wives and families. Finally it was decided that a member’s ticket should admit his wife and Family to the sports ground. Various recommendations were nade to the new committee and the neetmg terminated, A committee meeting was held itterwards, Mr Pearpoint in the chair. t was decided that all cheques hould be signed by the president, reasurer, end secretary, After transacting a considerable mount of routine business, the meetig adjourned till the following Monay evening.
