A writer in a contemporary states that George Alexander Darling, a brother of the heroine 01 the Longstone Lighthouse, is still alive, and in needy circumstances. The following story is told of him:—George, when .15, was at sea as a ship's carpenter, and whilst in a shipbroker'a office in Leadenhall street, the story of his sister's heroism being all the talk, a man came, and produced from his pocket a bunch of yellow hair. -Ho offered it for sale as a lock from Grace Darling's head, which he bad got from a friend in the north. The whole work, which is one of the most miserable figures of the nineteenth century, is" Bold at the price of about eight shillings." Again, I read in another Press organ : " National Liberalism cringes , like a worm that has been trodden under foot ; it gnashes its teeth, and while angrily clenchiDg one fist, asks with the other for help."
