The British flag was burned by a mob at Coimbra. I'be public statues in the streeto are draped in mourning. Lord Salisbury had arranged in case of Portugal holding out to occupy Delagoa, Quillimaiue, the Cape Verde Islands, and St. Vincent. The English press is unanimous in supporting Lord Salisbury in his attitude on the Portuguese question. The French and Spanish press on tbe other hand denounce whst they call his " brutalitv."

The Continental press is unfavorably contrasting Lord Salisbury's pliabili'y towards Germany over East Afri' en affairs, and his attitude towards Portugal in the recent dispute.
