TEMUKA ROAD BOARD.

The monthly meeting of the Temuka Road Board took place on Tuesday. Present—-Messrs Talbot (chairman), Snell, Bissett, and Eraser. ’ ACCOUNTS. Accounts amounting to £222 13s 4d were passed for payment. COEEESPONDENCE. The following correspondence was read:— Prom Mr J. Buck, Rangitata Island, asking that the boulders on the road leading to his place _ might be picked up and a narrow grip filled in.—The overseer to attend to the matter. Prom Mr Robert Taylor, enclosing cheque for £l 4 for share of cost of work done on Taylor’s Road. Attention was directed to other work required on the same road.—The overseer explained that there was a soft place arising from a spring hole on the road. There might be about chains bad,—The overseer was instructed to attend to the matter. Prom the Postal Department, drawing attention to the Postal Guide, and asking the board to subscribe to same. —The clerk was authorised to procure copy of same. The Geraldine County Council forwarded copy of amount expended in connection with the Rangitata-Orari water race. Prom Mr James Hay, for the administrators of the late Mr Wadsworth’s estate, forwarding cheque for Is 2d for rates due on account of the late Mr Wadsworth’s property. He also forwarded formal requests tnat the several properties formerly owned by Mr Wadsworth, and sold to Mrs hitzgerald, Mr Hansen, and Mr Watlmg, might be placed on the roll m the names of the latter.—-The clerk to attend. Prom the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board intimating that the board’s share of contribution to hospital and charitable aid was £144 Is 6d, and requesting the same might he lodged at the Bank of New Zealand at an *7 date - — Passed for payment. TENDERS. The following tenders were received for Contract No. 15 Shingling and part formation, Stewart’s Hoad: W. Hopkinson, £32 10s (accepted) ; E. Counihan, £33 15s ; P. The overseer’s report was read as follows: “To the chairman, “ Sir, —I have the honor to report for the past month as follows : “ Tenders have been invited for re-form-ing and shingling part of Stewart’s road. Contract No. 15, forming part of the road between the Rangitira Val ey road and the Gully Bush road ia almost completed. I have had the drain by Boyd’s cleaned, as authorised at last meeting. The ford near the Oxford bridge has been improved. Me drain. Toner’s road—l have seen Mr Woodley in reference to this drain, and he has offered to keep it clean for sixpence per chain, per year. Since last meeting 3,C48 dozen of small birds and eggs have been collected, makmg the total number received this season 4,343 dozen. —I have, etc., “ F. Archer.” It was resolved that Mr Woodley’s offer be accepted. BATES. The clerk was' instructed to take formal steps for the collection of outstanding rates. The meeting then terminated.
