CHRISTMAS SINGING.

TO THE EDITOR. Sib, — I, too, notice in your valuable organ a letter signed H.PW., who is not so open-hearted and honest as the man whom he is trying to snuff out—viz., James Aitken. This man evidently is a truly charitable, broadminded Christian—not one smeared all over and lined inside with old-time prejudices one against another, but one who wishes to live in peace with all men. But H.P.W. seems to me a regular strife-preserver one who would like the world to believe him to be a thoroughly noble-minded Christian in every sense of the word, but deep down m his heart and all over him is written “ Presbyterian,” which to him means, “ I am quite right • others are not who do not think as I do.” Ha would not assist in a service outside of his own Church for fear of his own personal dignity being tarnished, or that his own self-respect for the Church of his father and grandfather, and so on, should be influenced for evil We all like the appellation Christian. That be so, let us take Bible as our universal guide. There there is no mention as this or that, or any, denomination being right. Then why do we presume—any of us—to say, “I am right, and you are not ?” Hence all the silly bickerings and ill-feelings. Let us cultivate that beautiful word Charity more than we do, and then we shall not be able to resist helping members of all Churches, either in their music or in any other good work, —I am, etc., Peaceable-
