The following is the report for the week ending Wednesday> i: i Wheat—The . tone of the market shows no improvement. The position at the moment seems to be less satisfactory tban even a week ago.’ All through North Otago and Canterbury stocks are still heavy—offering freely in this market at reduced rales,—and it seems quite evident that unless considerable advance is obtained, op current rates in the London market that further reductions will have to be submitted to,here before a clearance can be effected.,- Fowls* wheat fill lately brought prices relatively highep than those obtainable for good milling, but now a much heavier supply, is put on the market, and late rates are unobtainable. Prime milling' tuscap, 3s 4d to Bs sd; best red straw and velvet, 3s Id to 3s 3dl; medium good (nominal), 2s lOd tb 3s; inferior to best fowls’ wheat, 2s 3d to 2s 9d (ex store), Oats —This market remains steady; and prices, if anything, rather firmer’; Shippers have still orders, both fronp Australian and northern ports, and for any lines suitable for export there id fair competition. Best! heavy milling oats sold'at 2s to 2s 3d; sound heavy feed. ls lOd to Is lid ; medium bright do, Is 8d to Is 10d| musty and inferior la 5d to Is Bd—all sacks extra. Sheepskins—On Monday butchers’ green crossbreds (best) brought 7s fid to 6s 4d; good tp medium and inferior, 6s 3d to ss; green merinos,' 6s ; 3d to 4a 9d; green lambskins, Is 3d to lOd; country dry crossbreds, inferior to medium, Is. 3d to 3s lid; do .do merino, Is 4d to 4s Id; medium to | full-woolled crossbreds, 4s to 7s 9df; do do merino, 4s 3d to 6s sd; dry ; pelts; to 14d. I Hides—For heavy in prime condition, to 2idn-;an odd one occasionally 3d; medium, 2£d to 2|d; light, 2d to 2id; inferior, to Hd per lb Tallow—Prime rendered mutton, 19s to 20s; medium to good, 16s to 18s; inferior and mixed, 12s 6d to 15s. Rough: fat is in good request; best fetching TSsii to ;I3s 6d ; inferior to medium and good, 9s to 12s 6d per CWt. , ; , | J. DUNEDIN STOCK MARKET. ; At the Burnside:Yardsj on Wednesday the following business was transacted:— r , , , Fat Cattle—lßo head were yarded. Only about of the number were really prime, u There was brisk competition, but prices ruled from 5s to 10s per head lower tban last week. Best bullocks sold at £9 10s to £l2 ss; medium, £7 10s to £9; inferior, £4 15s to £6 15s; cows and heifers, £3 10s to £5 10s.—Wright, Stephenson and Co. sold for Mr J, Smart (Geraldine), 32 head at up to £8 10s for bullpehi, and up to £7 for cows. I Fat n ly 1511 being penned, about 140 of which . were merinos. Fully three-fourths 6f the sheep yarded Were wethers, but with the exception of a few pens they were of a very Ordinary quality. Prices all round ivere from ,2s to 3s higher than those ruling last week’ and there is every prospect of, satisfactory prices ruling for really priine sheep 1 for J ‘several jireeks to come. Best crossbred wethers sold at 16s to 23s 6d j ordinary, 13s to jlss 6d ; crossbred ewes, l2* ( 6d to 18s 9d; merinos, Us 9d to 12s 6,d. j Fat Lambs—3ss penned, inearly all Were of good quality and useful Weights. Best pens sold at 11s to 13a; ordinary, ss9d tolOa.; | Pigs—4o2 yayded. About half of these were stores, the balance suckers and baconers, with a few pens porkers. Ruckers sold at 6s to 11 a ; stores, 12s io26s; porkers, 28s to 36; baconers, 40s to 525, a few pens extra heavy to 05a.

Queensland whites, £25 10s; greys, £24; yellows, £2O 10s. I Oct. 31. fThe fourth series of wool today was animated and competition brisk. There was a large attendance of buyers. The New Zealand Leap and Mercantile Agency; Company catalogued 5380 bales, of which number 4762 were sold, The following are the beat rates * realised ; Oreasy merinos, Is l^d; greasy combing, is 2d; greasy crossbred, Is l£dj; greasy lambs, Is Idf • greasy pieced, ll|d ; scenred merino, Is B£d; hcoured pieces, Sis 6|d.
