The entries ef sheep, cattle, draught horses, agricultural produce, and dogs were larger than these of last year, and the other classes were not far behind, agricultural implements showing the principal falling off m number of exhibits. The quality of most of the exhibits was very superior, and testified in a most unmistakeable manner to the producing powers of South Canterbury. The attendance yesterday was very large, visitors from the country literally pouring into the town, There were a number of amusements on the ground, as well as the Garrison Band, and those who did not care to devote all their time to looking at the exhibits had plenty of other ways of occupying themselves open to them, The show grounds were in first-rate order, the arrangements made for the exhibits and convenience of visitors being very complete. The officers fulfilled their duties in a most praiseworthy manner, and deserve every praise. We have to thank the energetic Secetary of the Society, Mr F. W.
