The Auckland schooner Lancashire Lass, which was wrecked at Pago Pago, harbor in July last, has been floated. It is reported that the Union Shipping Company are considering the desirableness of tendering for the French service between Samoa, Tahiti, and Honolulu.
The lawlessness of the Samoan natives is contradicted, and it is asserted that the police force established by Mataafa has done good and asefnl work. During tha cruise of the schooner Saucy Jack among'the islands one of the sailors named O’Brien developed into a fiend incarnate and murderously assaulted the crew on several occasions. On the i voyage to he nearly killed the cook, and for that offence was handcuffed. He then fired the Ship and jumped overboard and was drowned. The crew managed to extinguish the flames before much damage wss done.
