The following is tke Corn Exchange report for the week ©ading Friday, Sept. 18th, 1889 :
The dearth of active business during the past week precludes the necessity of many remarks. Wheat is still in a depressed state, and with the exception of Sydney cables, which point to rather more assuring views of this line, nothing of any note has transpired. In oats the market has about reached its fullest value, although good lines of milling might find a better market later on. Seed sorts will not participate, owing to the rapid growth of thepasture in the neighbor-' ing colonies. Barley is without altera-' tioniia any way; values are therefore not affected. ' Grass seeds do not meet with such ready acceptance as holders would desire, sowing being now nearly completed, and stocks south over the ordinary requirements. Derwent potatoes are not bo much in request as the late season of drought in New South Wales would have led us to expect, but the prices bow obtainable are quite up to and over the average of ordinary seasons; Values for the week are as follow: ' Wheat Prime tuscan, 3s 6d to 3s 7d; pearl, 3s 3d to 3s 4d ; hunters, 3s Id to 3s 2d; broken chick wheat, 2s 6d. Oats—Milling, 2s 9d; short feed, i 2s 7d to 2s 8d ; inferior, 2s 6d. Barley—Prime malting, 3s 6d to 3s 8d; medium, 3s; feed, 2s 6d to 2s 9d. Peas Prussian blues, i; 3s 6d to 3s 8d; feed, 3s, Beans—Beansj 3s 3d. Potatoes—Potatoes, 655, at country stations.
