TEMUKA TOWN BOARD.

The adjourned meeting of the above board was held last Wednesday evening. Present—Messrs Gray (chairman), Clinch and Blyth. Mr Coira waited on the board aod asked leave of absence for himself and Mr Mason, as they had another engagement.—Granted. , ‘ . PETITION.

Mr H. Miles waited on the board with a petition to the Railway Commissioners, and signed by ratepayers of Temuka and Arowhenua Town districts, requesting that the railway gates between the two towns might be kept open till a later hour than ,at present. He asked the board to support it. On the motion of Mr Blyth, seconded by Mr Clinch, it was resolved—- “ That the board approves of the petition of ratepayers of Temuka and Arowhenua Town districts as set forth in the said requisition.” BATE.

Air Clinch moved, and Mr Blyth seconded- That it is the intention of this board to strike a general rate of one halfpenny in the £, on ail rateable property within the town district at a special meeting to be held in the Town Board office at 7 p.m on the 25th inst."—Carried,

tract to keep the town in order. Vine street drain was choked op, and required looking to. He had heard no complaint as Inspector of Nuisances. The fact was that he heard everyone speaking in complimentary terms of the manner in which Mr Fraser was carrying ont his duties.

Messrs Blyth and Clinch were appointed a sub-committee to accompany the overseer to look after certain drains, also to consider the advisability of taking over the road leading across from the Road Board office by Messrs Aspinall and Co.’s grain store to Railway Terrace.
