New York, Angus: 15, Terry, a barrister, of Californio, struck Chief Justice Field at the railway station at Lathrap, and Depaty-Marslial Nagle shot Terry Dead. Terry was angry at the Judge for having committed 1 him for contempt in the Sharon case in 1887, August 16. Terry’s purpose was suspected, and Nagle was authorised to defend Chief Justice Field. At the inquest the former was found guilty of shooting, but will f probab y be acquitted. Terry’s wife was Alethea Bill, who claimed to have been married to Senator Simon, and brought a suit against him, which lasted for a considerable lime, and excited great interest in California, She threatens revenge for (be death of her husband, and has since issued a warrant against Chief Justice jPield, whom she accuses of complicity.
