(Before His Honor Mr Justice Denniatoun) > Grand Jury found true bills against all the prisoners except one, charged with unnatural offense, and a charge of burglary (a third charge) against Geo. Pearce. M 5 . , LARCENY. Walter 5 Arthur Freeman, alias' Fraser, aged 17, ..pisaded guilty to Stealing a quantity of clothing from ,a‘ ploughing camp on the Waitakl id* jnne last, ancLalso admitted that he bad been previously convicted of larceny (in HeoembbfTßßß). Prisoner liras remanded for : sentence till Wednesday morning. ROWING 4 m! ; Martin, O’Halloran, an elderly man, pleaded not guilty to a charge of stealing Bs, in silver, from the till in the bat of the Grosvenor Hotel'on July 13lh. After hearing the .evidence the fury , returned a verdict of guilty, and prisoner was sentenced to four years’ imprieonmeet with .hard labor. It was shown that oflheflast 25 years of bis, life prisoner had spent 17 in gaol.

ALLEGED NUROLART. George Pearce pleaded not guilty tb two charges of burglariously entering'the Ship Hotel on the night of July 18th, and stealing therefrom (1) a .watch and chain property of C. P. Cork, and (2) about £8 in money the property of W; ?. Brown. A second count charged tho prisoner with having and receiving the said property, knowing it to have been stolen. In the first case evidence was led to show that a burglary bad been committed at the Ship Hotel on the night of July 18th, and a number of articles were stolen. The wife of the licensee saw the bsrglar in the bed- ' room with a dark lantern, batcbnld'kot identify him. . Next day prisoner, who was one of tho crew of the Ashleigh Brook, was arrested; in theJOlerendon Hotel. The police, and an independent witness named Jones, swore they ea# the watch in the prisoner's hand, and that he threw, it under ;the table. The? prisoner said that what .was seen in bis band was a quantity, uf ,loose silver,., with iwliioi* he Was about to pay for some, drinks, and cSlled' fKe licensee of the Clarendon Hotel and two of his; shipmates, to .prove bis , ■toVyl ; The jury rstumerf'a 1 ve&iot of not guilty.
