RIFLE SHOOTING.

GERALDINE RIFLES T. CIVILIANS. A rifle match between ton civilians and ten men from the Geraldine Eifle corps took place at the range, Geraldine, on Thursday afternoon last. The conditions of the match were 200, 400, and 500 yards, 5 shots at each range, Wimbledon targets and scoring. The early part of the afternoon was perfect for shooting, but at the completion of the 200 yards a strong ">JBou.th-west wind sprang up, which put hn end to good shooting for the majority of the men. r i he light, t®o, at the last range was wretched, the setting sun being straight into the men’s eyes. The top scorer of the day was Private 0. Fleming, who managed to knock up 50 points. This is one of the latest recruits to the corps, and although very young has in the last three competitions come out well, winning the cup and shooting well against the Navals. The shooting on Thursday resulted in a win for the Biles by 81 points. The Volunteers were under the command of Lieut. Ward, Mr W. E. D. Lawson being captain of the civilian team.
