FOOTBALL.
A match between the two newlyformed clubs, the Waihi Juniors and the Winchester Juniors, took place on ; the Geraldine Oval on Saturday afternoon last. The weather was perfect for the game and the ground in the pink of condition. Mr E. Morrison captained the home team, and Mr W. Hart the visitors. The Geraldine men had to play four substitutes. The game was very even, but slightly in favour of the visitors who eventually won by a goal and a try, four points, to nil. For the yisitors Messrs W. . Stewart, McLeod (2), Wagstaff, and Hart played well, while among the home team Messrs Moule, Morrison (2), J. J. Hiskens, F. Taylor, and South were the most prominent. The match between North Canterbury and South Canterbury took place at Christchurch on Saturday in the presence of 2000 spectators. The play soon proved that the visitors were overmatched and the game resulted in a win for North Canterbury by 14 points to nil. Four of the points were scored in the first spell. The following will represent Temuka Second Fifteen in their match with the limaru Second Fifteen at Temuka on Thursday next, the 25th, and all players are requested to be on the ground at 3 o’clock punctually J. Oliver, F. Storey, J, Anderson, J. Brosnahan, Findlay, Leasdon, J. L. Flint, Bryan, R. Austin, E. Lavery, H. Lavery, Balston, W. Bussell, R. McKinley, and Turnbull. Emergencies : G, Hay, S. Anderson, W. Story, J. Forcett, and Thomson. The Temuka Club play Waihi (cup match) on Saturday next at Winchester, and have accepted a challenge from the Ashburton Rovers to play a match on the 31st at Temuka. Beisbakb, July 20. In the match to-day with the Maori football team, Ipswich was defeated by 17 points to 6.
