KAKAHU COAL.
TO THE EDITOE. Sie, —I cannot help recommending the use of the Kakahu coal as a cheap, economical and really useful article, that is, if used in the following manner, viz. *• mix one-half with Newcastle, and the result will be as I have found it—most satisfactory. The ridiculously low price of the coal, too, ought to ensure its use by everybody in the district. But it will not burn alone; it must be mixed with Newcastle or Westport (Newcastle, I should say), when the effect will be surprising. My object in writing ia to draw the attention of the public to the place where cheap and good firing is to be found, and also to the need of patronising an industry which will prove of lasting benefit to the district.—l am, etc,, R.M. Geraldine, July 20th, 1889.
