THE EUROPEAN SITUATION.
London, July 16. The Tim«s this morning, in an article dealing with the affairs at Crete, states that the fleets of Great Britain, Austria and Germany will shortly set; up a blockade there in order to prevent tha landing of arms and money from elsewhere. The Times in on article upon the European situation, indicates that it is the intention of both Austria; and Germany to aßk at an early ! period whether Russia means war or will pursue a peaceful attitude. July 17. The blockade of Crete is denied. Constantinople, Julys 17. The Sultan is reported to b* making cvertureß to the triple alliance. Berlin, July 1.8... ! Count Waldersee, Chief of the German Staff, denies the statement that he advised the Emperor to. engage in an early war with Russia. Belobade, July 18. Servia has given Bulgaria pacific assurances.
