AUCTIONEERS' REPORT.

TIMARU. Mr B. R. Guinness (for the Now Zealand Loan and. Mercantile Agency Company, Limited) reports for tho week ending Saturday, July 13/b> as follows :

Washdyke Tarda—Cattle: The entries of both fat and: stores, have been below the average,,,. The price and demand for the former a'decided improvement,' and tell . good-quality beef coming forward meets with ready sale at about the following quotations : —l7s to 18s per r ,lopib:, ( for prime quality. Stores: Theeprice for this class of stock is low,'and sales difficult to effect. Sheep: During the past week entries at these yards have been good, and a considerable amount of business transacted.. The price iof freezers and sheep in forward condition has suffered a decline of 6d to Is per head, while hoggets have, maintained late values, and < are., in fair demand. Sheepskins—On i Wednesday, best butchers' crossbreds M from 4s 6d to 5s 3d; second tquality, 3s 9d to 4s 4d ; best merino, 4s 9d to 4s lOd; second, 3s 6d to '4s; country lots< Is 6d to 4s 6d, according to size and quality; skins in bales, up to s|d per lbJ Fat—All on hand sold at the following quotations:—loa to JOs 6d for ordinary, and 13s 6d for beatvrough, perewt. i_; Messrs W. Collins and Co., Timaru, report for the week on the marketas follows :™ Quiet week in grain. A line of 2000 bushels of tuecan, velvet, and rediwheat, slightly faulty, was.sold at 3s all round, delivered at siding at Timaru. Prime samples are worth—--3s 3d for tuscan, 3s Id for velvet, and 3s for-red chaff. Holders of oats are asking too high .a figure to buy at for speculative purposes.
