THE OMAHU MURDER.
Napier, July 1.
The inquest on Turanga .Karauria,,, shot at Omahu on the 14th June, was resumed for the fourth time, to-day., The Coroner has been sitting early and late, and to-night adjourned at 11 o'clock until Friday. Most of the evidence for the prosecution has been led. The only additional facts which have come to light tend to show that the affair was premeditated, and that a number of other Natives knew of it., Shortly before the shooting Waatura was on foot among a number of Brougton'a Natives in the stockyard at the opposite end of the paddock. Another Native galloped upon a horse belonging to Broughton, and gave it i to Waatura, who mounted it, rode to Karauri, and shot him. The other Natives meantime dispersed, except four men carrying guns, who advanced
to the fence of the paddock, where the first shot was fired. Edward Broughton, examined to-day, claimed the whole paddock for his people, and denied the occupancy by Jlarauria's people deposed to by previous witnesses.
