DUNEDIN STOCK MARKET.
At the Burnside Yards on Wednesday the following business was transacted : "Fat Cattle—l 62 head yarded. Very prime brought an advapca of from 103 to 15s per head on late rates. Light weights also realised slightly better prices. Best bullocks brought £7 12s 6d to £9 ss, a few extra heavy cattle to £lO ss; medium weights, £6 to £l ss; inferior, £4 15s to £5 10s; cows, £3 5a to £7 10s, according to weight and quality. Wright, Stephenson, and Co. sold for Mr Jas. Guild (Trevenua), 6 prime bullocks at from £9 7s 6d to £8 ss; from Elloughton Grange estate, 12 prime bullocks at from £8 17s 6d to £7 10s. John Grind 1 ay sold for Mr Guild 6 prime bullocks at ' from £9 5s to £8 10s. Fat Sheep—2946 yarded (700 being merinos) including some very prime sheep. For inferior sorts prices fell Is per head. Good crossbred wetl: '.cs brought 14s to 15s 6d ; an exceptional Den or two somewhat beyond the last mentioned rate ; medium class wethers, 12s 6d to 13s 6d; light and inferior, 10* 6d to 12s. Prime crossbred ewes realised lis to 13s, a few extra heavy, 14s to 15s; ordinary to medium weight aged sheep, 7s 9d to 10s; average merino wethers, 7s 6d to 9s 61I; extra prime to as high as Us. Wright, Stephenson and Co. sold for Mr T. Mitchell, Waskdyke, 60 crossbred ewes at from 10s 6d to 9s 3d. Fat Lambs —179 yarded; good demand. Prices ranged from 6s 3d to 10s. Pigs—2B3 yarded. Prices rose in some instances fully from Is to 2s per bead. Prime bacon pigs brought 52s to 58s, a few extra heavy to 635, medium weights 40s to 50s, porkers 22s to 365, stores 15s upwards. THE SI WAR MARKETS. Wellington, June 20. The sugar market continues in. an excited state, Wellington merchants at a meeting to-day decided to advance quotations for Auckland Nos. 1,2, aud 3, to £4O, £39, and £37 10s, respectively, duty paid. Dunebtn - , June 20. The local sugar market has not been eo excited for many years as at present. Great iuterest is taken in the sale of a portion of the cargo ex D'Artagnan. The entire cargo submitted was sold at the following prices (in bond) : Finest grey crystals £36 to £36 5s ; fine to finest whites up to £36 15s; a few lines brewers crystals ex Lorna Doone has quitted at from £33 10s to' £34 10s. A fortnight ago sugar was sold here by auction from £22 to £24 10s. It is thought prices will go higher. The consignee of the D'Artagnan cargo netted a profit of £3OOO. AUSTRALIAN MARKETS. Sydney, June 19. Wheat—Chick feed, 3s 3d to 3s 8d ; New Zealand milling, 4s to 4s 4d. Flour—New Zealaud stone-made, £lO 10s; roller-made, £lO 15s to £ll ss. Oats nominal, 3s Id to 3s 2d, the market is very quiet; maize is declining, 3s to 3s 2d; barley, Cape, 3s; English 4s 6d, nominal; bran, New Zealand, Is; po'lard is dull .it Is Id to Is l-§d; Blue Prussian peas, of inferior quality, 3s 9d ; best - sorts, 4s 3d; chaff, New Zealand, £6 to £6 10s; potatoes, New Zealand, £4 to £4 5s ; Circular Heads, £4 ]os to £5; onions, New Zealand, £2O; Victorian, £l9. The butter market is glutted; New Zealand, 7d to Is. The cheese market is glutted; New Zealand made is quoted at 6d to 8d ; bacon, 8d to 9d ; hams, New Zealand cured, Is. Melbotjkne, June 19. Wheat, prime, 5s 6d, market dull 5 oats, stout, 4s 3|-d, market easier; maize, 4s; barley, seed, 4s; bran Is 3d, The sugar market is strong and excited. Best China whites, £36. Adelaide, June 19. The wheat market is inactive; farmers' parcels at Port Adelaide 4s 9d, shipping parcels 4s lOd, nominal. Flour, Btone-makes £lO 15a to £ll, roller-makes £ll 15s to £l2. Bran, Is, Pollard, Is Id to Is 2d. Beisbane, June 19. The sugar market is very excited ; Best China whites £3O. ENGLISH MARKETS. London, June 18. At the wool auction to-day 12,000 bales wero catalogued, two-thirds being from New Couth Wales and New Zealand. There was a full attendance and brisk competition. Good merinos and fine crossbred* realised above the closing rates of May series; medium and inferior merino and coarse crossbreds are unchanged. New cheese is quoted at 45s per owt. New Zealand mutton is scarce. There was a large attendance at the opening of the wool sales. Merinos are in good demand. June 19. The total quantity of wheat and Hour afloat for the'United Kingdom is 1516,000 quarters, and the American visible wheat, supply is 17,635,000 bushels. The English wheat market is firmer, the Continental market is unchanged ; the American market is eteady. N.Z. Mortgage and Agency Company's 4|- per cent debentures are quoted at 102; Dalgety and Company'a j 4-1- per cent debentures, U4j. j
At the wool sales to-day 14,000 bales wero offered. Prices were very firm, and the advance was fully maintained. Tlio New Zealand Loan and Morcanlilo Agency Company, Limited, have rfcoivod the following cable message from London, dated June, 18tli, 1889 :-- "Wool—The sales opened this day at the level of last sales, except for good greasy and scoured merino wools, for which the market is firmer. The attendance of both Home and foreign buyers is good, and competition is fairly active. The sales comprise about 320,000 bales; 82,000 bales have been sent to the manufacturing districts direct. Leather—Market quiet. Best sides are worth 9|d per lb. New Zealand Hemp—The market is drooping. Medium is worth £3O 10s per ton. Frozen Meat—Mutton market firm. Beef unchanged. Wellington and Canterbury mutton is worth 6d and 6£d per lb respectively; Canterbury lamb is worth 7|d per lb.
