CONTINENTAL AFFAIRS.
London, June 14. Affairs on the Continent are assuming a serious aspect. In Berlin tbe Officials and the press express a grave distrust of Russia, fearing that the Czar has entered on a Dew period of activity in respect to his attitude towards the Balkans. The Continental bourses are agitated in consequence of this feeling. In Servia the Liberal party instigated tbe Russian Minister to approve tbe reunion of all tbe Serbian provinces, and an impression is abroad that Prince Nikita of Montenegro will be proclaimed King of Servia in the autumn ; that an active agitation will result from this step in tbe winter ; and that war may be expected to follow in tbe spring. Paris, June 14. Deputies Lagurre, Deroulede. and Laissant have been arrested. Berlin, JnneTS. Germany has informed the Swiss Government that it regrets the non-settle-ment of the Wohlgemuth frontier episode and intimates that Germany reserves tbe right to take whatever measures she may deem necessary, June 14. The Nord Deutsche Zeitung and tbe Vossiohe Zeitnbg agree that a struggle between Russia and Germany is inevitable. Vienna, Jane 14. Tbe Feindenblatt, one of the leading political journals* in an article dealing with European affairs, declares that neither Austria nor any of the Great Powers ban afford to remain idle onlookers if Servia attempts to translate tbe liberal programme into action. The Turkish envoy to Vienna baa in his despatches warned the Forte that unless European diplomicy moderates its hostility towards the Regents of Servia, Austria will be compelled to go to war, Belgrade, June 14. The Regents have received proposals from Russia for immediate action. A revolt in favor of Prince Peter Karageorgeovilob is imminent in Servia. 1 Constantinople, Jims 14. Tbe Ports has reinforced tbe garrison; on the Servian and Bosnian frontiers by - 60,000 men, and has despatched troops to the island of Crete, where a disturbance has arisen between tbe Mahometan and Christian residents.
