The telegraph office, store, and hotel at Omapere, Bay of Islands, were totally destroyed by fire on Thursday night. The premises were insured. The Auckland Board of Education have decided that two of their senior scholarships may, if the holders desire, be tenable at the Lincoln Agricultural College, Canterbury. The programme for next season of the Canterbury Jockey Club is just issued. The Derby is reduced by 230 bovs ; Welcome by 50 govs, Midsummer Handicap by 50 sovs, but other stakes are not materially affected. The total added money at the Spring Meeting will be £4605 aa against £4805; the Summer £770 as against £505; the Autumn £1825 as against £1950.
