New York, June 9. President Harrison accepts the Queen’s message of sympathy upon the Johnstown catastrophe as an expression of a generous character on the part of herself and as indicative of the goodwill of England towards the United States, The wife of a leading citizen of Johnstown has been found alive in the debris. A coffin was found containing a corpse partly burned. The latest return of the loss of life by the Johnstown catastrophe is 37.000. This is based on the fact that 13,000 snrvivors have registered their names while the registered population of the district affected (in the Conemaugh Valley) is 50,000. It is feared all the rest have lost their lives. June 10, The inquiry into the bursting of the reservoir at Johnstown was concluded to-day. A verdict was returned that the accident was caused by the criminal negKot of the owners. The lives of the latter are seriously menaced by the mob. All danger of a pestilence breaking put has been averted. Che amount subscribed in aid of the sufferers is found to be inadequate for their pressing wants,
