| At the licensing meeting at Oamaru ,on Wednesday, there were two applications for a license for the same house. The late licensee had been evicted by the mortgagee, but appeared in support of his application. He fought the dispute out to the last, his eviction having been a matter of considerable difficulty, and he carried his grievance to the licensing committee, who, however, refused to entertain his application, as he could not get possession of the house. Rev. Mr MacGregor, of St. Cathbert’s, Edinburgh, one of the delegates from the Presbyterian Churches of Scotland to the forthcoming Jubilee celebration in Melbourne, is a passenger by the Tamui, and he i intends to stay a few weeks in the colony before going on to Melbourne. Principal Rainey, of Edinburgh, will not visit JNsw Zealand till afaer the conclusion of the celebration, and it is probable that Dr Lind, of Belfast, will come out about the same time. i
