CHRISTCHURCH STOCK MARKETS. At the Addington Yards on Wednesday the sales all round were satisfactory. Fat Cattle—-A very large entry, and several exceptionally good steers were sold at considerably advanced rates, but for medium sorts the demand was not brisk, and prices showed little improvement. Heavy weight bullocks sold from £6 10s to £8 5s ; do heifers, from £6 to £7 10s; cows up to £0; or about 16s 6d per 1001 b. Calves—Best vealers sold from £1 to £1 10s; medium d©, from 15s to 20s. * Store Cattle—Prices showed a slight advance. Good yearlings brought from 25s to 30s; two-year-old steers to £3; do heifers, £2 15s; and cows up to £3 17s 6d. Fat Sheep—Another heavy entry, made up principally of moderate quality, and last week’s prices were well maintained. Beat crossbred wethers sold from 13s 6d to 17s; inferior do, from 10s 6d to 13s. Crossbred ewes sold up to 14s, and merino wethers brought from 5s 4d to 8 s.— The H.Z.L. and M.A. Co. sold,for Mr A. M. Clark (Waihaorunga Estate), a magnificent fine of half-bred wethers, as under: 32 at 17s (which topped the market), 35 at 16s 9d, 93 at 16s 9d, 30 at 15a lOd, and 26 at 14s 7d. Store Sheep—Crossbred ewes sold up to 7s; merino ewes, to 4s; crossbred wethers, to 7s ; merino wethers, from 4s to 5s lOd. A line of crossbred lambs sold up to 9s, while medium ewes fetched up to 5s 6d. Pigs—There was a large entry, including a lot of very large pigs, besides a good few porkers and store pigs. The demand was keen, and as much as £3 13s 6d was got for some; porkers also «old well. - DUNEDIN PRODUCE MARKETS. The following is the report for the week ending Wednesday:— Wheat —As in the preceding week, this market has shown but little animation, and as supplies still come forward freely, with no inducement to shippers to operate, and millers only purchase sparingly, we see no immediate prospect of an improvement—even the small business passing is at reduced rates. Quotations; Prime milling velvet and tuscan, 3s lOd to 4s ; medium to good, 3s 6d to 3s 9d ; inferior to medium, 2s 6d to 3s 4d (ex store). Oats—The market still continues firm, and no difficulty is experienced in disposing of all lots coming to hand for sale, and at slightly higher prices. Prime milling, 2 s 10d to 2s 10£d, extra good samples are held for 3s; best bright feed, 2s 9|d to 2s lOd; medium to good, 2s B|d to 2s Od $ inferior (very few offering), 2s 7d to 2s 8d (ex store). Barley is not in any improved demand. Prime malting, 3s 8d to 3s 9d ; medium, 2s 9d to 3s 6d (ex store), Grass Seed Eyegrasa (farmers), 2s 9d to 3s 6d; machine-dressed, 3s 6d to 4s 3d ; cocksfoot, 2|d to 3|d. Potatoes —Oamaru, £4 5s to £4 7s 6d; southern, £3 15a to £4; kidneys, £4 to £6. Pigs—Well fed up to 1801 b, 4d to 4|-d ; hams, 9d ; rolls and flitches, 6|d to 7d. Chaff—Well cut heavy oaten, £8 15s to £4; straw do, 40s. Turnips, 17s to 20s, Carrots, 40s, Straw (oaten and wheateu), 40s, Hay, oaten, clover, and ryegrass, 70s. Butter —Prime salt, lOd (kegs extra). Eggs—Downward tendency. Cheese —Best Akaroa, 4|d to sd; loaves, 5d to s|d;. factory, s|d; loaves, 6Jd to 6id. Honey, 4yd to 4-J-d for best.

Sheepskins—On Monday, country dry crossbreds, low to medium, brought la 5d to 3s 8d; do do merino, Is 3d to 3s sd; medium to full-woolled crossbreds, 3s 9d to 5s lOd; do do merino, 3s 4cl to 5s 5d ; dry pelts, 3d to Is Id; butchers’ green crossbreds, best 4s 9d to 3s 9d; good to medium and small, 3s 6d to 3s Id; green merinos, 3s 3d to 4s ; lambskins, 4s 5d to 3s Id, Hides—Heavy weights, 2fd to 3d; medium, 2£d to 2|-d; light, 2d to 2|d j inferior and bulls’, l|d to X|d per Id. Tallow—The tone of the market is slightly weaker. We quote prime rendered mutton, 19s 6d to 21s; medium to good, 17a to 19a ; inferior and mixed, 14s to IGa. Hough fat—best caul, 12s 6d to 16s ; inferior and medium to good, 10a to 12s per cwt.
