GERALDINE ROAD BOARD.

A meeting of this board was held yesterday. Present—Messrs W. Postlethwaite (chairman), F. R. Flatman, P. McShane, J. Kelland, and W. U. Slack. MINUTES. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. TENDERS. Tenders were opened and dealt with as follows : No. 284—Ford and ahiHgle, Shaw's road, Geraldine Flat: J. Buckley, £l2 10a; J. Fiefield, £8 ; M. Lawlor, £7 10a (accepted). No. 286—For 200 bushels feod oats : J. Lewis 2s 6d per bushel, bags 7d ; E. j Burke 2s 7d per bushel, bags returned.— Mr Lewis's tender to be accepted if he takes the bags back. No. 287—Fords, cutting;, and shingle, Hilton road : M. Lawlor, £23 ; J. Fiefield, £l9 14s (accepted). CORRESPONDENCE. Correspondence wus read and dealt with as follows : Ftom Mr J. Howley, ie the exchange of section at Orari.—Mr J. H. Baker, Uom.miseioner of Crown lands, wrote asking that a plan of the section to be exchaoged be forwarded.—Plan to be sent. From Mr R. O'Neil, objecting to £be road over tho downs from the north-west corner of section tfo, 21104 to Taylor H road being closed, unless )the board had the power to soil it to him.. -Request granted.

From Mr H. ''• Wells, requesting the board to remove the gates and open the road leading from his hou?e. between sections 17497 and 15101. The board did not S'-e tbeir way clear to grant the request; toeing the gites were properly hung. From J. Burnett, advising the board of tbe forwarding of iron rails for protection works. . . From Mr J. Sporrey, advising the board of tbo forwarding of a voucher for half rates on Crown lands foi 1888-9. It was decided that tbo land adjoining the several owners between Toomey's and the Boundary road be offered to each owner as marked on the pian. OVEESEEB'S EEPOET.

The overster'B repoit van read as follows : "1 have tbe honor to report for the past month ending date as under :—The works in hand have made fair progress wince the last board meeting. The undermentioned havo bt»en completsi during tho inonih : Ne. 281, stacking boulders, K.jngitaia Station rood ; No. 282, road diversion, reserve 1210, Boundary road ; No. 283, culvert and ford, Boundary road ; No. 28©, willows for protective works at Bclfield. The latter work will ba completod io a few days with the exception of the gorse packing. There is pome difficulty in procuring gorss near the works in sufficient quantity. Willows : I had to obtain 500 extra widow stakes from MiLewis, as Mr Burke w.is unable to supply more than tbo numbar tendered for in his contract. Iron rails: As instructed 1 have obtatued five cons of iron rails for the protective works btlow tbo Orari bridge, so that tenders can b« invited for next beard meeting. Fords: The fords at Quaid's, Morrison's creek, Skinner's, and Kynn's have baen attended to, and shallowed to allow of sheep crossing more readily.
