Tbe asphalting askod for by tbe trustees of the Wesleyaa Church Imd been carried out satisfactorily. Notice had b«en served on Messrs Brown and Wareing re broksn dr*y culvert, and the same was now During the recent boavy rain the drain at tbe back of the Star Hotel had stood half full, through a stoppage in tbe opsn drain east of the Railway culvert. The overseer of tbe Temuka Road B.)ard had b?eu communicated with on tbe subject. Tbo complaint of a nuisance in Vine street had been attended to. Ceitain of th» arrears of rent had been paid, and defaulting tenants had been duly notified to pay tha balancos. He suggested that a portion of Railway Terrace north of Wood street should be metalled as far as Ewen road at any favorable opportunity. Sundry places on the footpaths would require gravel and asphalt repairs, and a place between Messrs Money's and Storey's would require a streug fence along the terrace before any advantageous work could be done. He complained of a defect in the office chimney, and suggested that tho same could be remedied if the chimney were carried up higher. In reference to Mr Story's application for alterations in tha water-tables in the street leading past his paddock, further enquiry revealed tbat the pipe drain under the road was too small lo admit of the surface water draining .off. Ic consequently backed into Mr Storey's paddock.
