TIMARU MARKETS. At auction in Timaru on Saturday, Danish oats sold at 2s 4d per bushel on trucks at Fairlie Creek, 2s 4|d per bushel on trucks at Timaru, Canadians 2s 6d on trucks at Temuka; fowl feed 2s 3d, 2s 4d, 2s 6d, 2s 9d per bushel on trucks at Timaru, or delivered at store by farmers’ drays; derwent potatoes 60s per ton; cocksfoot 2£d per lb; oat-sheaf chaff 60s per ton. AUSTRALIAN MARKETS. , Sydney, April 12. The return of breadstuffs for the week show that 1400 tons of wheat were imported from New Zealand, a quantity double that received from any other colony. ENGLISH MARKETS. London, April 11. Now Zealand Shipping Company’s shares are quoted at £4 15s.
New Zealand frozen mutton is quoted at from to 4^d; lamb, s£d to 6d ; beef is unchanged. As compared with the closing rates nf February sales, wool is generally from 5 per cent, to per cent, higher. Greasy merinos from £d to Id and sometimes Hd higher. Fine greasy crossbreds are dearer, and coarse crossbreds are recovering the decline they experienced at the opening of the series. German buyers are competing briskly. Beet sugar is quoted at 18s IM. April 12.
New Zealand 4 per cent inscribed stock 103?, ex dividend. The market inactive.
Australian wheat ex store, is quoted at 40s; New Zealand long berried, ex store, 39s 3d. The market is a little weaker.
Copper is quoted at £39 10s per ton, and tin (Straits) £93 per ten; Australian, £94 per ton. No. 1 Scotch pig iron, f.o.b. in the Clyde 44s 3d per ton.
