DANGER.
TO THE EDITOR. SIE, —Pray assist me in calling the attention of those whose duty it is to look after and preserve as far as it lies in their power the health of the inhabitants of this town to an intolerable nuisance which exists in our very midst. Nuisance is not a term strong enough to describe the mass of filth that has been allowed to accumulate in one of the public streets,, happily not much frequented, but nevertheless within ten chains of the Postoffice-—I mean Eraser Street. Here, in the main drain of the town, which appears to be choked up at the railway culvert, is a seething mass of putrid matter, The sewage of several streets lies stagnant and exposed, calculated in the direst degree to give birth to diphtheria and fever. Whoever is to blame, and whatever steps it may be necessary for the inhabitants to take for their own protection, I cannot say, but I feel it my duty to warn them of their danger. —I am, etc., Eeancis Eeanks. Temuka, April 15.
