TIMARU MARKETS. Wheat—Prime milling tuscan 4a, velvet 3s lid, red chaff 3s 9d, squarehead 3s 8d; a considerable quantity gaing forward to Sydney on consignment. Oats—Prime milling 2s 4dto 2s sd, good short feed 2s 3d to 2s 4d, heavy Danish 2s 3d, fair average 2s 2d. Barley Prime malting 3s 9d, medium 3s Gd. At an auction sale of in Timaru on Saturday the following prices were realised : —Velvet 3s 9*d per bushel, red chaff 3s Bd, tuscan 3s lid (passed in), feed oats 2s 2|d per bushel. Canadian oats, none offering. Powl wheat was in good demand at 2s, 2s 7d, and 2s 8d per bushel; grass seed (cocksfoot), 2-|d per lb, OAMARU MARKETS. About 34,000 bushels of wheat were offered for sale by auction at Oamaru on Saturday. Tuscan was sold at up to 4s Of d, and mixed parcels at up to 3s lid. A line of velvet was passed at 3s lid, and a line of 2000 bags velvet and 1000 bags tuscan at the same figure. Oats sold at from 2s 3d to 2s 4^d. AUSTRALIAN MARKETS, Sydney, March 29. Pour thousand one hundred and seventy-four bags of wheat by the Pukaki from New Zealand have been sold at prices ranging from 4s Gd to 4s 10f-d. Onions have risen to £l4, owing to scarcity. Copper £39 10s, steady. Sugar is still advancing. Herman beet 16s Gd, Java do 15s. No. 1 best Scotch pig iron, f.o.b. in Clyde, 44s Gd. Tallow shows an advance, best mutton 26s to 26s Gd, beat beef 25s to 25s Gd. Government have prohibited the import of live sheep and lambs from Germany and Holland on account oi the prevalence of foot and mouth disease in those countries. The annual import thence has hitherto been 800,000 head, amounting to eightninths of the total live import into the United Kingdom. In consequence of the action of the Government, shi]ipers are trying to introduce dead meat, but it is believed the attempt will fail in consequence of the continued rise in prices in countries from which stock has been exported to England. New Zealand mutton, 4d to 4|d; beef, nominally same price. Later. The Privy Council, accepting an assurance that Holland is free from disease, have decided to admit sheep from that country. March 29. An Australian cargo of wheat has been sold at 35s 9d. New Zealand hemp, £37 5s and £37 10s.
