TEMUKA SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

The monthly meeting of the Temuka School Committee was held on Tuesday evening. Present Messrs Hay hurst (chairman), Gray, Brown, Allan, and Clark. MINUTES. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. CORRESPONDENCE. Correspondence was dealt with as follows : From Miss H. M. Ladbrooko, resigning the position of head mistress in the school; resignation to date from Ist April.— Prm£ posed by Mr Cla-k, seconded by Mr BrowjH and carried: “ That the resignation of Miaa[ Ladbrooke be accepted with regret.”—The members were unanimous in expressing their regret at losing such an efficient teacher. The secretary was instructed to write to the Board of Education, requesting that steps be taken at once to fill the vacancy. From the Board of Education, sanctioning the appointment of Mias Rose Qoodey as pupil teacher. From the same, forwarding the inspector’s report on examination of pupils taking the secondary subjects in Trmuka and Wairaate District High Schools. [This report, so far as it refers to the Temuka School, appeared in our columns when it came before the Board of Education.] From the same, forwarding certificates for presentation to high school scholars. From the Timaru Committee of the Bible Society, stating that a parcel of Jubilee Testaments, with the Queen’s autograph on the fly le,af, had been sent to the committee for distribution in the school, and requesting that the Revs. Hamilton, Dickson, and Bunn should be informed of the day and hour when the’ same would be presented to the children. HEAD MASTER’S REPORT. The head master, Mr W. Bryars, reported for the month of February ; Boys. Girls, Total. Average roll ... 194.7 170.5 3(55.2 Average attendance 152.4 140.8 293.2 Highest attendance 162 145 307 He expressed the hope that immediate steps would be taken to secure a successor to Miss Ladbrooke, and he enclosed a cheque for 21s3d, being balance of amount of stationery fees received to date. Ink and slate pencils were required. It was decided to obtain the school requisites mentioned. visitor. Mr Gray, the visitor appointed at last meeting, apologised for not being able to make a report, and was reappointed for the ensuing month. ACCOUNTS. Accounts to the amount of £5 3s 6d were passed for payment, and the meeting terminated with a vote of thanks to the chairman.
