It is understood that the Government of New Sooth Wales intend to ask New Zealand if it is prepared to consent to a renewal of the San Francisco service for one year. March 17. H.M.S. Orlando sailed for Auckland yesterday. The premises of Messrs Gibbs, Shallard, and Company, printers, were partially destroyed by fire last night. Heavy damage was sustained before the fire was extinguished. The insurances amount to £33,000.
At Ooraki, a town on the Richmond River, a mao named Gifady attempted to bill another named McLennon with a knife. Failing in the attempt Grady committed suicide,
