SUPREME COURT.
The Grand Jury at Auckland returned a true bill against McDermott for manslaughter. At the Supremo Court, Christchurch, on Tuesday, the B>ir welcomed Mr Justice Denniatoun on hia taking his seat for the first lime. At the Supreme Court, Oamsru, on Tuesday, John Williams, for burglary at Waimate, was sentenced to five years' penal servilude ; William Edwards, for robbery with violence, to oino months; and Jane Brown, for the stealing of a purse from a drunken man, to two years.
