THE RAWSON COMMISSION.

The Bawson Commission at New Plymouth resumed on Thursday morning, when Mr Jellicoe, of Wellington, was present to aofc for those who wished to make charges. The Commission has received charges from William Humphries, Alexander Boswell, and Michael Byrne. Howell's charge wai to the effeot that Mr Bawson oorruptly and vindictively committed him for trial to the Supreme Court when be muit have known the oharge was falie ; that Mr Bawson tampered with and hindered his ■olioitor, and would not allow him to call evidenee to rebut evidence given. William Humphries charged Mr Bawson with having conspired with Messrs Samuel and Corkill to prooure Herman Wallath to make a false oath, amounting to perjury, for the purpose of injuring Mr George Hutchison; also that Mr Bawson attempted to induce Wallath to swear an affidavit that he knew was false. Humphries also charged Mr Bawaon with being unduly irfluenced in the administration of justio9 by Mr Samuel, to the prejudice of Humphries. Miohael Byrne charged Mr B»weon with impropriety as Begistrar of tho Supreme Court, in the drawing up and completion of orders.

The oharge of conspiring to injure Mr 6K Hutohison was first prooeeded with. The first witness examined deposed that District Judge Bawson, and Messrs Samuel and Cookill, had osked him to swear an affidavit; making a serious charge against Mr G-. Hutchison, solicitor, in order to get him sfcruok off the rolls. He (witness) was a bankrupt at the time. Mr Bawson promised him the payment of money and his im. mediate disoharge from bankruptcy if he would make the affidavit. Mr Bawson deolined to examine the witness, on the ground that a mine was sprung on him, and he required counsel to defend him. The further hearing of the charges was adjourned till Wednesday in order to allow Mr Hesketh, from Auckland, to be present to defend Mr Bawson.

The charges brought by Boswell have been twioe before the Publio Petitions Committee of the House of Bepresentatives and reported on as having nothing in them.
