AUCTIONEERS' REPORT,

TIMARD. Messrs Grade, Maclean and Co. report for the past fortnight, ending Saturday, as follows: Horses—Owing to harvest operations being now in full force, there is but h’ttle business doing in horses of any description. "We have enquiries, however, for a few good heavy draughts suitable for road work. Sheep—At Washdyke, on the 14th instant., the entry was a small one, but there was a considerable improvement this week, both in numbers and quality, and every lot changed hands under brisk competition. The demand for young stores is active, and prices offering favourable to sellers. We have several buyers for 2 and 4-tooth half and three-quarter-bred ewes and wethers. We sold on account of Mr Wm. Grant, 118 lambs at 5s lOd, 50 fat lambs at 7s 6d; on account of Mr J. R. Gilliatt, 28 fat sheep at 10s 3d; on account of Mr G. G. Russell, 275 crossbred cull ewes at 5s 6d, 94 quarter-backs at 4s sd, 100 fat ewes at 8s; on account of Mr D. Smart, 55 fat 2-tooths at 10s, and privately on account of the Oraigmore estate, 2968 merino ewes.

Cattle—There has been very little doing in fat or stores, either at the yards or privately, for the reason that so few cattle came forward for sale. Young stores, say, yearlings to eighteen months, are enquired for but buyers cannot get their wants supplied. We sold 12 steers (medium weights) at £5 ss, 8 cows at £4 to £6 7s 6d, 15 yearlings at 18s to 255, 12 six-quarter-olds at 30s, milkers £4los to £6.
