CHSISTOHUKCH CORN EXCHANGE. The Corn Exchange reports for the week ending Friday evening, the 22nd insfc.:— Considerable quantities of grain are now being offered, and prices between buyers and sellers are becoming more settled. Some of the grain is not coming to hand in the best condition ; certainly more care should betaken, otherwise there is sure to he unpleasantness at settlements. English cables have been reassuriug in tone, and should freights be easily available we shall expect to see present prices maintained. The Australian markets have a downward tendency, California having sent considerable shipments, which has had the effect of weakening the demand for New Zealand produce. Wheat—Prime tuscan can be placed at 3s 6d, and hunters and pearl at from 3s 3d to 3s 4d; second qualities in fair supply at 3s. Oats—A good business has been done during tho week, and good ieed were placed at 2a 4d at the early part of the week, but are now rather weaker pt 2s 3d; long descriptions are selling at 2s. Barley—The quality varies very much, prime bright malting commanding up *to 4?, whiia second quality is hard to quit at 3s 6d. Grass Seed—Eetail lines are moving off slowly at 3s 6d to 3s 9d for machine-dressed, and farmers' parcels have a strong demand at 2s (id to 2s 9d. Cocksfoot—Quiet at 2fd to 3d for good seed. iPeas —Prussian blues have been Bold at 3s 6d for prime; mixed samples are dull at 3s. Beans not offering. Dairy Produce—Butter has again been well cleared out by London shipmeats, but the prices remain very hw, 7d being the top value ; second quality is dull at 4d. Cheese varies from 4d to sd, according to size and quality. The above prices are those paid to farmers for delivery f .0.b., sacks extra.
