MOUNT PEEL ROAD BOARD.
The ordinary monthly meeting of this board was held in the Road Board Office, Peel Forest, on Friday, the 35th inst. Present—Messrs C. G. Tripp, R. Mackay, and J. G. Dennisloun. The chairman not being in attendance, Mr Tripp was voted to the chair. The minutes of the former meeting were read and confirmed. The following correspondence was read and dealt with From the Hon. J. B. A. Aciand, requesting leave of absence from the present meeting of the board; also, asking the board to put in a concrete culvert across the road leading to the Mount Peel Station in place of the present wooden one.—Resolved that the work be done as required. From the Surrey Office, Christchurch, in reference to plotting up the district map. From the Manager Union Bank of Australia, Timaru, stating that the board’s fixed deposits will be renewed as directed. From the Treasury, intimating the payment of £26 5s 2d to the board s credit with the Union Bank of Australia, being rates on Crown lands for the current year. —The clerk to acknowhdge the receipt of the same. From Mr J. Tulbol, thanking the ratepayers of the district for again returning him to represent their interests on the Timaru Harbor Board. From the Secretary to the New Zaaland Exhibition, soliciting subscriptions to the exhibition funds. Resolved—“ That all rates remaining unpaid after the 25th February be sued for without further notice. Tlie clerk was directed to write to the chief surveyor in reference to opening up the proposed new road through the Timaru Borough reserve to give access to Mr Hitch’s land.
After passing accounts amounting to £29 4s, the Board adjourned.
