PARNELL V. THE TIMES.

London, February 8. Before the Commission to-day Major LeCaron admitted that he bad been a spy for the Horae Office since 1868, and since then had made a thousand reports. He joined the Fenians expressly to betray them. The witness gave a detailed history of the escape of Egan and Brennan to the Continent, and swore that Egan informed him that they were determined to continue active warfare and to endorse the murder policy. Feb. 9. Sir JR. Webster, Attorney-General, stated during the course of the proceedings yesterday that he would not attempt to connect Mr Parnell personally with murder; but he would undertake to prove that he had deliberately allied himself with persons whom he knew to be murderers. Major LeCaron said that he became chief of the American Fenian organisation—the Irish Republican Brotherhood of America—who employed Gallagher to dynamite buildings in London, and it was witness who revealed the plot and caused Gallagher’s arrest. He organised a rebellion in Manitoba, and supplied the necessary funds. For years Irish members had promoted outrages. He produced a letter from Egan proposing to establish a branch of the Irish Republican Brotherhood in Australia. He also deposed that Mr Sexton assisted Egan to escape to the Continent. February 9. Before the Commission to-day Major LeCaron underwent a severe crossexamination at the hands of Sir Charles Russel), counsel for Mr Parnell, but his j testimony was not shaken.
