Melbourne, February 8. A boy named Joynes, only 15 years of age, has been arrested for some exceedingly clever forgeries on the stock exchange. February 9, The dale ot the general election is fixed for March 29th. A trial was made yesterday with the Maxim gun which has been on view at the Melbourne Exhibition, in the presence of the Defence authorities from several of the colonies. The trial was eminently successful, extraordinary shooting being made. Robinson Bros.’ and Campbell and Sons’ large engineering works on the banks of the Yarra, were burned down last night, The loss is estimated at £40,000. There was no insurance.
