The Premier arrived at Auckland on Friday and presided on Saturday night at a public meeting in connection with the N.Z. Alliance. On Wednesday night he addresses the electors on the Property Tax and its substitute, a Land Tax and Income Tax. He returns South at the end of ek.the we Whisper, having met with an accident while coming through the Manawatu Gorge on Saturday, has been scratched for all engagements at the Summer Meeting at Wellington. The s.s. Tekapo took away from Wellington about 2350 tons of produce to Sydney on Saturday. Robert Pinnie, aged eight, while bathing in a lagoon in the Taieri, near Greyfcown, in company with four younger lads, was drowned. The Waitekauri gold mine (Auckland) and battery have been sold by Mr J. H. Witheroul to an Australian Company.
