London, January 10. The friction between England and Portugal respecting the claim of the latter to Nyassolaud is becoming more acute. The Standard says Lord Salisbury must vigorously resent Portugal’s claims to control the mouths of the Zambesi. The English missionaries in Uganda are at present safe. January 12. Information has been received that the Christian natives at Uganda have murdered one of the teachers connected with the mission, and expelled Mr Knapp, who was appointed German Consul after approval of his conduct in Samoa, Zanzibar, January 9. A letter, believed to be written by Stanley, has arrived hero addressed to the King of the Belgians.
