RIFLE MATCH.
SOUTH CANTERBURY F. DEVON. Some tirao ago Lieut,-Colonel Bailey, commanding the South Canterbury Battalion, arranged a match between ten representative marksmen of his Battalion and ten of the 11th Devon Regiment (his former command) now stationed in India. The conditions were seven shots each at 200, 500, and 600yds, any military position, Wimbledon scoring. The weapon used was the Martini-Henry. The South Canterbury representatives fired on Thursday at Temuka. The light was strong with moderate wind. Early in the day there was a somewhat deceptive haze arising from the damp ground, otherwise the day was a very favorable one. The following are the scores :
